Choosing a router bit for acrylic

Reduce melting, improve chip evacuation and recognize signs of unsuitable settings.

Evacuation first

Acrylic heats quickly when chips remain in the cut. A polished single-flute geometry is commonly used to encourage a continuous chip and effective evacuation.

Warning signs

Sticky chips, whitening or material welding back together indicate that you should stop and review feed, spindle speed, extraction or tool condition.

Validation

Always test on scrap with stable workholding and suitable protection. Manufacturer values remain the priority.

Important

The stated parameters are starting points. Test progressively on scrap and always respect manufacturer limits.
