Burning or smoke
Stop and check sharpness, feed, RPM, depth of cut, extraction and any rubbing from the shank or blade.
Plastic melting
Check edge condition, chip evacuation, actual feed, RPM and dwell time. Avoid allowing the tool to rub.
Tear-out, burrs or poor edge
Check geometry, cutting direction, backing support, tool condition, rigidity, finished-face orientation and finishing pass.
Vibration, chatter or binding
Stop the machine. Check tightening, runout, workholding, depth, diameter, speed, wear and mounting compatibility.
Abnormal disc or blade wear
Remove the accessory from service if you see cracks, deformation, missing segments, unusual vibration or unreadable markings.
Limits and precautions
Never correct a fault while the machine is running. Stop, isolate energy and change one parameter at a time.
